STEM Education: CityU 4th Hong Kong Secondary School Cosmetic

Formulation Competition (Year 2024) – CHAMPION in Hair Styling

The 4^th Hong Kong Secondary School Cosmetic Formulation Competition, organised by City University of Hong Kong and co-organised by the Hong Kong Society of Cosmetic Chemists (HKSCC) and The Cosmetic & Perfumery Association of Hong Kong Ltd (CPAHK), concluded its final round in mid-September, with a total of 49 participating schools this year. Congratulations to 5D Huang Jiahui, 5E Loo Tsz Ching, 5E Liu Ho Lam Bill, and 5E Zhou Erxuan for winning the championship in the Hair Styling category!

The competition required students not only to create a long-lasting hair styling product, but also to present their product through a written report, video, on-stage presentation, and booth display. The outstanding performance of the four students was recognised and appreciated by the judges.

Cosmetics are closely related to our daily lives. It is hoped that through this competition, students will cultivate an interest in the chemical principles behind cosmetics and enhance their research skills.
