From 16th July to 2nd August, ten students of Kap Yan participated in TWGHs Joint Schools Summer English Study Tour to Perth, Australia. They enjoyed the 18-day trip and had a wonderful time there.
The students stayed with local host families and attended English classes at Phoenix Academy. The students were put into different classes according to their language proficiency. It was a great opportunity for them to meet learners from various countries. They could enhance their language proficiency through discussion and presentation. Besides learning English in the classroom, our students also conducted a survey interviewing the locals in Perth to find out about their life in West Australia. Through the interview, students were encouraged to take the initiative to talk to foreigners.
Our students also took part in a number of outings and activities which required cooperation and teamwork such as rock climbing and shelter building. The most unforgettable experience was surely the farm stay at Boshack. They could feed horses and touched the rare species. During the trip, students also got the chance to understand the aboriginal culture like visiting the Art Gallery, learning to play the didgeridoo and boomerang. These definitely broaden their horizon.
