The school has long been committed to nurturing and supporting students who demonstrate strong academic performance and development potential. Starting from this school year, the former “Top Students Group” was officially renamed “Star Project”. Through regular gatherings, focused training, personalised support and experience sharing, the Gifted Education Team helped students explore further study pathways, set personal goals, and develop independent learning, leadership, communication and service skills. Students were encouraged not only to embrace opportunities, but also to share their learning and experiences with their peers so that the spirit of growth and service could be passed on.
At the first Star Project gathering of the school year, participating students were introduced to the project’s objectives, available support, and their roles and responsibilities in learning and personal development. Students at different stages of their education explored suitable directions for growth and learned how to access information about relevant programmes, activities, competitions and awards offered within and beyond the school. They were also encouraged to plan their development proactively, step beyond their comfort zones, and share useful knowledge, experiences and opportunities with others. Individual support was provided where appropriate, including guidance on applications, interviews and personal development.
Previous gatherings covered topics such as personal résumé development, interview skills, popular university programmes, preparation for university entrance scholarships, learning and time management, leadership experience, and impromptu speaking. Alumni shared their experiences of studying university programmes including MBBS, IBGM and BBA(Law), while senior students discussed preparation for further studies and school life with younger students. These exchanges gave participants first-hand insights into university programmes, educational planning and leadership practice. They also helped students reflect on their personal growth, communicate their ideas clearly, and organise and present their experiences systematically.
We were also delighted to celebrate the achievements of three 2025 Star Project graduates. After entering university, Yu Yan Ting, Wu Ruo Han Dora and Liu Yun Kai continued to pursue excellence and were awarded the AIA Scholarships, Tung & Ngai Foundation Scholarship, and The Hong Kong Jockey Club Compassionate Leader Scholarship respectively. Subject to the terms of each scholarship and the availability of additional funding, their estimated total value over four years ranged from HK$200,000 to more than HK$570,000. Their achievements demonstrated that universities and scholarship organisations value not only academic excellence, but also leadership, character, compassion, community engagement and a genuine commitment to serving others. The Gifted Education Team will continue to encourage Star Project members to treasure every opportunity, explore proactively, honour their commitments and give back to the school and the wider community, passing on the spark through meaningful action.
